The Birds of West Ham Park by Bob Smith is a book about the Birds of West Ham Park. It’s that simple. This website started as a means to sell the book, and whilst that is its primary aim, I hope it will develop into something that will keep you all informed about developments in the Park, and how the birdlife is developing.

Apart from a book by Colin Plant in 1986, there have been few publications about the birds in Newham. My involvement with the Friends of West Ham Park convinced me that the time was right for a small publication that would help the many visitors to the Park appreciate the wonderful variety of birds that can be seen.

I am also adding a review of the book by David Lindo, the Urban Birder. He is very kind and generous in his praise, and his career will be one to watch. Anyone who reads his articles and sees him on TV, realise that this a person mad about birds who is worth listening to.
